WHO/WHAT?... 

ÆNAHKA: (pronounced Ah-Na-Ka)

 

'NAHKA' is Finnish for leather, skin and hide, which is the base for many of her creations.

 

Seija combined the sound of her second middle name 'Anica' to create ÆNAHKA

 

Seija Halonen transforms her visions into wearble art. Inspired by nature, travels, friends, festivals, pop culture,  Rock'n'Roll, high fashion and life in general, Seija's creations are ever changing. As new life experiences unfold, so does the stoke for new and unusual 

projects.

BIO:

 

Seija grew up in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She spent much of her childhood as a competitive gymnast, with a stint in distance ski jumping. 

She she spent many of her days off fishing, crafting or enjoying the pristine Northwest Ontario 

nature at the family camps on Dog Lake, Dog River and Lake Superior.

Seija made  the move out west at 19 when she was accepted into the acting program at Studio 58, Langara Collage.  During her school years, and upon graduation in 2004, Seija spent everyspare moment 

snowboarding and 

snowmobiling in and around Whistler B.C with friends.

 

After graduating, she decided to 'take a year off in Whistler' to live full time, and innevitably, the mountains won her heart. She has since called Pemberton and now Lillooet Lake home and lives with her amazing, supportive husband Potsy and pooch Boogie.
